Our close friendship has survived marriage (hers to Kim, mine to Mark), kids (10 between us), living in separate places (Jill in Snowflake, me in Mesa) and now an ever increasing pack of exceptionally good looking and brilliant grandchildren.
When Jill first talked to me about the "pilgrimage" that she wanted to take I was not too impressed. Going to Spain sounded fun, but walking dusty roads with a backpack wasn't exactly the way I had dreamed about touring. But as soon as I started reading about the Camino de Santiago I was intrigued.
The thought of millions of people walking
for thousands of reasons
over hundreds of years
soon became a thought I could not let go of.
So I'm trying to get ready by
- walking lots of miles
- practicing my Spanish
- reading endless blogs on the Camino
- watching hours of videos
- figuring out whether I'll fit inside a l lb. sleeping bag
- planning giddily with Jill
Less than a month to go!

Great!! What a blessing to have a lifelong cousin and friend.
ReplyDeleteI will follow with interest! My daughter's mother-in-law (we call ourselves The Mothership) have talked about this. There are a few walks that we're considering, so you walk will help with our decision. No pressure Laraine!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am really excited about this Honora! I will try to impart all my wisdom (cough, cough).
DeleteHave fun, be safe, and walk and walk. Hope your feet survive the journey.
